Who We Are
The Regent Neighborhood Poetry Club is a group of neighbors and friends who share a love of poetry. The organization, which held its first meeting on October 31, 2007, meets regularly in Madison, Wisconsin, to celebrate poetry through readings and poetry writing exercises. The RNPC draws inspiration from the historic University Heights Poetry Club. For many years, from October 31, 1896 to the 1960s, the UHPC was an important medium of entertainment and intellectual exchange on the city’s near west side. The group included members of the University of Wisconsin-Madison community and business and civic leaders. For more on the Heights Poetry Club, see

Poetry Writing Exercises
The purpose of these monthly meetings is to provide a time and place to engage in the practice of poetry writing. This is not a critique group but an opportunity for poets to work on their craft together through writing exercises suggested by a facilitator. The exercises are held the third Thursday of the month at the Froth House, 11 North Allen St. For more information, Angela Rydell at ajrydell@wisc.edu or http://angela.rydell.goodplages.com/rnpcpoetryexerciseday
